PopCap Announces Multiplayer in XBLA Plants vs. Zombies

Plants vs. Zombies

We already knew Plants vs. Zombies was coming to the Xbox Live Arcade at some point thanks to PopCap’s comments some time ago and a recent rating from the German USK ratings board. PopCap has now come out and announced that the game will be released in early September and will have two new multiplayer modes: Co-Op and Versus.

“With a ton of new features and content exclusive to the XBLA version, we’ve pulled out all the stops to both expand and optimize this adaptation for a hard core gaming audience,” said PopCap worldwide studios head Ed Allard. “The two new multiplayer modes allow gamers to work cooperatively to defeat hordes of invading zombies, or go head-to-head in a true ‘plants vs. zombies’ challenge.”

The game will include all 50 original levels, as well as Puzzle, Survival, and Zen Garden modes. It also comes with 21 minigames — more than any previous release — and 12 Achievements, as well as a new mode where players can create and customize their own house. You can then travel down the street and see all of your friends’ houses as a way of checking on their progress in the game.
