Sony Details PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.15, Brings PSP Minis
Sony has outlined the next PlayStation 3 firmware update on the PlayStation.Blog, and it confirms a rumor from last week on upcoming functionality. Update 3.15, which is said to be coming soon, will feature support for PSP Minis, confirming word from last week that the functionality would be coming before Christmas. All Minis released after December 17 will be playable on the PS3, and the blog states the team is at work on making the majority of previously released Minis work as well. And of course, it only requires one download, so if you already own a Mini and you want to play on your PS3, you don’t have to buy it again.
The update will also allow data transfer from one PlayStation 3 to another. Connecting two PS3s with a LAN cable will allow users to transfer games, save data, and videos. It should make the process much easier for anyone who wants to trade up to a Slim or any future models. There isn’t word on when to expect the update, but seeing as the blog claims it is coming “very soon,” and the Minis deadline is December 17, we’re sure to see it sometime before then.
